CEFR A1 · Beginner
Polish shows you its seven cases from the first lesson, but you only need two of them to start: the nominative for who is doing something and the accusative for what you order (poproszę kawę, herbatę). You learn that the verb ending carries the person, so jestem, jesteś and jest do the work of the pronouns, meet the letter pairs sz, cz, rz and ł that make the language look harder than it sounds, and pick up the numbers 1-20 with their 2-4 versus 5-and-up split, the days of the week, the family, and the greetings dzień dobry, cześć and dziękuję.
