Finnish A1 starts with sounds and spelling that match one to one, and with the personal endings on olla and the everyday verbs (puhun, puhut, puhuu), so a pronoun is optional from the first week. You meet the partitive early because Finnish cannot say 'two coffees' or 'I don't eat meat' without it (kaksi kahvia, en syö lihaa), the six-way pronoun table with the gender-free hän, and the adessive for having (minulla on koira). The vocabulary covers greetings, numbers to twenty, the days of the week, family, food and the thirty most useful verbs.
