Welsh has no verb "to have". The north says Mae … gen i and the south says Mae … gyda fi, both meaning "there is … with me". The thing owned comes straight after mae, and both forms are correct Welsh.
Examples
- Mae gen i frawd a chwaer.
- I have a brother and a sister.
- Mae car gyda fi.
- I have a car.
- Oes gen ti amser?
- Do you have time?
The mistake to avoid
Gen i and gyda fi are regional, not right and wrong - pick one and stay with it.
