Turkish weather usually pairs a noun with its own verb: yağmur yağıyor, kar yağıyor. Others use var: rüzgar var, güneş var. For a condition, add -se or -sa to the verb stem: yağarsa, gidersek.
Examples
- Sabahtan beri yağmur yağıyor.
- It has been raining since morning.
- Yarın yağmur yağarsa evde kalırız.
- If it rains tomorrow, we will stay at home.
- Hava güzel, o yüzden sahile gidiyoruz.
- The weather is nice, so we are going to the beach.
The mistake to avoid
Yağmur yağıyor uses the same root twice - that repetition is correct Turkish.
