For things that happened and that you witnessed, add -di/-dı/-du/-dü plus the person ending. After the voiceless consonants ç, f, h, k, p, s, ş, t the ending hardens to -ti/-tı/-tu/-tü.

The mistake to avoid
After ç, f, h, k, p, s, ş, t you must use -ti: baktım, not bakdım.
