Önce follows the amount of time and means ago: iki yıl önce. With the ablative it means before something: yemekten önce. Sonra works the same way for after. For since, use -den beri: pazartesiden beri.

The mistake to avoid
Önce comes after the time: iki yıl önce, not "önce iki yıl".
