To join two nouns, Turkish marks the second one, not the first: müzik grubu, kitap kapağı, film festivali. If the first noun is a specific owner it also takes -in: Ayşe'nin kitabı. This chain is how Turkish builds most compound words.
Examples
- En sevdiğim müzik grubu bu.
- This is my favourite band.
- Kitabın kapağı çok güzel.
- The cover of the book is very beautiful.
- Film festivali gelecek ay başlıyor.
- The film festival starts next month.
The mistake to avoid
The ending goes on the second noun: müzik grubu, not "müziğin grup".
Where this fits in
Sevdiğim şeyler, Turkish A2: Talk about hobbies, likes and dislikes, and free-time plans.
