To say you like doing an activity, take the verb, make it -me/-ma, add the object ending -yi/-yı, and finish with a form of sevmek. So yüzmek (to swim) becomes yüzmeyi severim.
Examples
- Yüzmeyi severim.
- I like swimming.
- Kitap okumayı seviyorum.
- I like reading books.
- Erken kalkmayı sevmiyorum.
- I don't like getting up early.
The mistake to avoid
The bare infinitive doesn't work here: say "Yüzmeyi severim", not "Yüzmek severim".
Where this fits in
Sevdiğim şeyler, Turkish A2: Talk about hobbies, likes and dislikes, and free-time plans.
