Small unstressed particles sitting after the verb colour your attitude rather than adding facts: ju = 'as we both know', väl = 'I assume, right?', nog = 'probably, I reckon', då = impatience or 'in that case'. Placing them correctly is what makes speech sound native.
Examples
- Det är ju inte så konstigt att hon blev arg.
- It's hardly strange, as you know, that she got angry.
- Du kommer väl på festen?
- You're coming to the party, right?
- Han är nog bara trött.
- He's probably just tired.
- Kom då!
- Come on, then!
The mistake to avoid
Stressing them or fronting them - they are always unstressed and sit inside the clause, never at the start of a sentence.
