For the person something is given or said to, Greek uses μου, σου, του, της, μας, σας, τους before the verb: μου έδωσε. These same short forms also mark possession, but then they follow the noun: το βιβλίο μου.
Examples
- Μου έδωσαν την απόδειξη.
- They gave me the receipt.
- Σας στέλνω την επιστροφή αύριο.
- I will send you the refund tomorrow.
- Της εξήγησα το πρόβλημα.
- I explained the problem to her.
The mistake to avoid
Before the verb it means to me; after a noun the same word means my.
