To avoid naming the same thing twice, French replaces it with le, la or les, placed before the verb. Le and la shorten to l' before a vowel. In the passé composé the pronoun goes before the auxiliary, and the participle then agrees with it.

- La chambre ? Je l'ai réservée hier.
- The room? I booked it yesterday.
- Le petit-déjeuner est inclus, on le prend à sept heures.
- Breakfast is included, we have it at seven.
- Les clés, je les laisse à la réception.
- The keys, I am leaving them at reception.
The mistake to avoid
French never leaves the object out: on le prend, not just "on prend".
