Je veux is correct but blunt, and at a ticket window it sounds rude. French uses je voudrais, the conditional of vouloir, for any request. Follow it with a noun or an infinitive. Est-ce que je pourrais and pourriez-vous work the same way.
Examples
- Je voudrais un aller-retour pour Nice.
- I would like a return ticket to Nice.
- Je voudrais voyager en première classe.
- I would like to travel first class.
- Pourriez-vous me dire à quelle heure part le train ?
- Could you tell me what time the train leaves?
The mistake to avoid
Keep the s: je voudrais, not "je voudrai", which is the future.
Where this fits in
Se déplacer, French A2: Prendre les transports, demander son chemin, et gérer une réservation à l'hôtel ou un billet de train.
