After être, an adjective agrees with whoever it describes: add an e if that person is feminine, an s if plural, and es for both. Content becomes contente, fatigué becomes fatiguée. Most of these endings are silent, but the written form still has to match.
Examples
- Je suis fatiguée aujourd'hui.
- I am tired today.
- Ils sont contents de leur nouvel appartement.
- They are happy with their new flat.
- Elle a l'air stressée en ce moment.
- She seems stressed at the moment.
The mistake to avoid
Adjectives ending in e already, like tranquille or triste, do not add another one.
