Welsh weather sentences use the feminine hi, standing for nobody in particular: mae hi'n bwrw glaw, mae hi'n oer, mae hi'n heulog. Rain and snow use bwrw. For a condition, os takes the present tense.
Examples
- Mae hi'n bwrw glaw ers y bore.
- It has been raining since the morning.
- Os bydd hi'n bwrw yfory, byddwn ni'n aros adref.
- If it rains tomorrow, we will stay at home.
- Mae hi'n heulog heddiw.
- It is sunny today.
The mistake to avoid
The weather is always hi in Welsh, never e.
