Welsh negates a verb with ddim after the subject: dydy e ddim yn gweithio. For nothing use dim byd, for nobody use neb, and for existence use does dim. The verb bod has its own negative forms: dydw i ddim, dydy e ddim.
Examples
- Dydw i ddim yn deall ei neges.
- I do not understand his message.
- Does neb yn ateb yn y swyddfa.
- Nobody is answering in the office.
- Dydy e ddim wedi gweithio ers ddoe.
- It has not worked since yesterday.
The mistake to avoid
Ddim follows the subject: dydy e ddim, not "ddim dydy e".
