Welsh fuses a preposition with its pronoun into one word. Ar gives arna i, arnat ti, arno fe, arni hi. Gan gives gen i, gen ti, ganddo fe. I gives i mi, i ti, iddo fe. Illness and possession both run through these.
Examples
- Mae cur pen arna i heddiw.
- I have a headache today.
- Mae annwyd ar fy mrawd.
- My brother has a cold.
- Rhowch y presgripsiwn i mi, os gwelwch yn dda.
- Give me the prescription, please.
The mistake to avoid
There is no separate word for me here - it is fused into the preposition.
