Where English chains two verbs with to, Romanian uses să and then conjugates the second verb for the same person. Vreau să rezolv, poți să ajuți, trebuie să verificăm. The second verb is never left in its dictionary form.
Examples
- Vreau să rezolv problema astăzi.
- I want to solve the problem today.
- Poți să mă ajuți cu asta?
- Can you help me with this?
- Trebuie să verificăm încă o dată.
- We have to check one more time.
The mistake to avoid
Both verbs match the same person: vreau să rezolv, never "vreau să rezolvi".
Where this fits in
Telefon, mesaje și mici probleme, Romanian A2: A telefona și a scrie, a-ți cere scuze, a lămuri o neînțelegere și a cere ajutor: viața de zi cu zi când ceva nu merge cum a fost plănuit.
