Short frequency adverbs sit right after the verb or open the sentence: sempre esmorzo a casa. Mai means never, and when it follows the verb Catalan requires a no in front as well. Longer phrases like un cop a la setmana go at the end.

- We often eat out on Fridays.
- Els visito un cop al mes.
- I visit them once a month.
The mistake to avoid
Two negatives are correct: no ... mai is normal Catalan, not a mistake.
