Put no directly before the verb. Catalan also has an optional second word, pas, placed after the verb for emphasis or contrast - no vinc pas. It is normal in many regions and never required.
Examples
- Encara no és la una.
- It isn't one o'clock yet.
- Els diumenges no treballo.
- On Sundays I don't work.
- No, no parlo alemany.
- No, I don't speak German.
The mistake to avoid
Pas is optional and never replaces no - dropping the no makes the sentence positive.
