Most Catalan verbs end in -ar and share one set of endings: drop the -ar and add -o, -es, -a, -em, -eu, -en. Parlar, treballar and estudiar all follow it, so the pattern is worth more than any single verb.
Examples
- Parlo català i una mica de francès.
- I speak Catalan and a little French.
- On treballes?
- Where do you work?
- Estudiem junts els dimarts.
- We study together on Tuesdays.
The mistake to avoid
The I-form ends in -o in central Catalan but -i or -e elsewhere; -o is what you will hear in Barcelona.
