A noun ending in a vowel adds -s, and one ending in a consonant adds -os. Feminine words ending in -a change it to -es. The article moves too: el becomes els and la becomes les.
Examples
- Tinc dos germans i tres cosines.
- I have two brothers and three cousins.
- Els hotels són plens.
- The hotels are full.
- Voldria dos cafès, si us plau.
- I'd like two coffees, please.
The mistake to avoid
Feminine -a becomes -es, not -as: una casa gives dues cases.
