Catalan uses fer where English uses do, go or play for most activities: fer esport, fer natació, fer una passejada, fer ioga. Anar a plus the infinitive is for the trip, not the activity, so you go to do something you fer.

- Faig esport tres cops per setmana.
- I do sport three times a week.
- Cada tarda fem una passejada pel parc.
- Every afternoon we go for a walk in the park.
- Menjar fruita i verdura és saludable.
- Eating fruit and vegetables is healthy.
The mistake to avoid
Jugar is only for games with rules: jugues a tenis, but fas natació.
