Turkish has three distances: bu (here by me), şu (just there) and o (over there, or the one mentioned). O is also the word for "he", "she" and "it". To ask a price, say ne kadar? or kaç para?
Examples
- Bu gömlek ne kadar?
- How much is this shirt?
- Şunu alayım, bunu değil.
- I'll take that one, not this one.
- Bu ayakkabılar ne kadar?
- How much are these shoes?
The mistake to avoid
As an object they change shape: bu becomes bunu and şu becomes şunu.
