Many everyday Swedish verbs are a verb plus a particle, and the pair means something the verb alone does not: lösa upp, ta hand om, komma på, titta på. The particle carries the stress, which is what makes it sound like one word.
Examples
- Oroa dig inte, jag tar hand om det.
- Do not worry, I will take care of it.
- Vi kommer på en lösning.
- We will come up with a solution.
- Kan du titta på det imorgon?
- Can you look at it tomorrow?
The mistake to avoid
Ta hand om is three words that behave as one verb - none of them can be dropped.
