Some Swedish verbs need a reflexive pronoun pointing back at the subject: mig, dig, sig, oss, er, sig. It behaves like a normal object and goes right after the verb; sig covers han, hon, den, det and de.
Examples
- Jag tvättar mig och klär på mig varje morgon.
- I wash and get dressed every morning.
- Han skyndar sig till bussen.
- He hurries to the bus.
- Vi sätter oss vid bordet klockan sex.
- We sit down at the table at six.
- De lägger sig alltid tidigt.
- They always go to bed early.
The mistake to avoid
Using sig for jag or vi - sig is third person only; say tvättar mig, sätter oss.
