Swedish plurals take -or, -ar, -er, -n or nothing, and which one depends on the noun's declension rather than on any rule you can see. En flicka becomes flickor, en bil becomes bilar, ett äpple becomes äpplen, and many neuter words do not change at all.
Examples
- Jag har två bröder och tre systrar.
- I have two brothers and three sisters.
- Hotellen är fulla.
- The hotels are full.
- Två kaffe, tack.
- Two coffees, please.
The mistake to avoid
Ett hus stays hus in the plural - no ending at all.
