Swedish asks after wellbeing with må, not vara: hur mår du? The answers use må too - jag mår bra, jag mår dåligt. Vara is for a feeling named by an adjective: jag är trött, jag är glad. Mixing them is the commonest error here.
Examples
- Hur mår du idag?
- How are you today?
- Jag mår bra, men jag är trött.
- I am well, but I am tired.
- Vi är glada över det nya huset.
- We are happy about the new house.
The mistake to avoid
Jag är bra means you are good at something, not that you feel well.
