After är, the adjective changes to match its noun: the plain form with an en-word, plus -t with an ett-word, plus -a in the plural. Sjuk works like every other adjective: sjuk, sjukt, sjuka.
Examples
- Jag är sjuk idag.
- I'm ill today.
- Barnet är sjukt och har feber.
- The child is ill and has a fever.
- Vi är trötta och ledsna.
- We're tired and sad.
- Hon är glad, men pojken är arg.
- She's happy, but the boy is angry.
The mistake to avoid
Forgetting the -t with ett-words (*barnet är sjuk) or the -a in the plural (*vi är trött).
