Чтобы introduces a purpose or a wish. If both halves share one subject, use чтобы plus the infinitive; if the subjects differ, чтобы must be followed by a past-tense form, whatever the real time.

- Я говорю громко, чтобы все меня слышали.
- I speak loudly so that everyone can hear me.
- Я пришёл, чтобы объяснить свою позицию.
- I came in order to explain my position.
- Важно, чтобы каждый имел право на образование.
- It is important that everyone should have a right to education.
- Автор хочет, чтобы читатель сам сделал вывод.
- The author wants the reader to draw the conclusion himself.
The mistake to avoid
Using the present after чтобы with a different subject — "хочу, чтобы ты приходишь" must be чтобы ты пришёл.
