These letters are new shapes for sounds English already has: Б (b), Г (g, as in 'go'), Д (d), З (z), И (ee), Й (a short y, as in 'boy'), Л (l), П (p) and Ф (f). Learn them as shapes and whole words open up: банк, парк, футбол.

The mistake to avoid
И is not a backwards N - it is ee (лимон is li-MON). And П is p, not n: парк is park.
