Romanian nouns are masculine, feminine or NEUTER, and the neuter is the one to watch: it behaves as masculine in the singular and feminine in the plural. Un tren but două trenuri - the number word changes with it.
Examples
- Un pahar, două pahare.
- One glass, two glasses.
- Am cumpărat două bilete.
- I bought two tickets.
- Trenul este nou.
- The train is new.
The mistake to avoid
Neuter is not a third set of endings - it borrows masculine in the singular and feminine in the plural.
