Acesta means "this" and acela means "that", and both agree with the noun. In speech the short forms ăsta and ăla are far more common. To ask a price, say cât costă? - the form does not change for plurals.
Examples
- Cât costă cămașa aceasta?
- How much is this shirt?
- Îl vreau pe acela, nu pe acesta.
- I want that one, not this one.
- Cât costă pantofii?
- How much are the shoes?
The mistake to avoid
Written acesta, spoken ăsta - both are correct in their own register.
