The other two families follow the same shape with different vowels. -er verbs take -o, -es, -e, -emos, -em; -ir verbs are identical except in the we form, which is -imos. So comer and partir differ in exactly one place.
Examples
- Como peixe quase todos os dias.
- I eat fish nearly every day.
- Bebes vinho ou água?
- Do you drink wine or water?
- Vivemos perto do restaurante.
- We live near the restaurant.
The mistake to avoid
Only the we form separates them: comemos but partimos.
