Before an adjective, muito means "very" and never changes: muito simpática, muito simpáticos. Before a noun it means "a lot of" or "many" and agrees like any adjective: muito tempo, muita gente, muitos amigos, muitas fotos.
Examples
- A minha irmã é muito simpática.
- My sister is very nice.
- Tenho muitos amigos em Lisboa.
- I have a lot of friends in Lisbon.
- Há muita gente aqui.
- There are a lot of people here.
The mistake to avoid
"Muita simpática" is wrong: before an adjective muito stays muito.
Where this fits in
Family & people, Portuguese A1: Talk about your family, say what people are like and how old they are, and introduce your friends.
