Gostar (to like) always needs de before the thing you like, and de merges with the article: gosto de música, gosto da praia, gosto dos meus vizinhos. Put an infinitive straight after de to say you like doing something: gosto de dançar.
Examples
- Gosto muito de café.
- I really like coffee.
- Ela gosta da praia.
- She likes the beach.
- Gostas de dançar?
- Do you like dancing?
The mistake to avoid
"Gosto música" without de is a classic English-speaker error; the de is required.
Where this fits in
Colours, clothes & likes, Portuguese A1: Name colours and clothes, buy something in the right size, and say what you like and don't like.
