A clock time takes às, with the article built in: às dez. A span uses das... às. Before and after doing something are antes de and depois de, and both are followed by an infinitive rather than a conjugated verb.
Examples
- A consulta é às dez e meia.
- The appointment is at half past ten.
- Trabalho das nove às seis.
- I work from nine to six.
- Liga-me antes de sair.
- Call me before you leave.
The mistake to avoid
Portuguese can also inflect that infinitive for the person: antes de saíres.
Where this fits in
Planos e encontros, Portuguese A2: Propor um programa, marcar um encontro, mudá-lo ou cancelá-lo, e falar do tempo que decide os planos.
