Polish suggests in two everyday ways: the first person plural imperative (chodźmy, zróbmy, zacznijmy - "let's"), and Może + the perfective future as a question ("Może pójdziemy do kina?"), which is softer. Both are far more natural than a literal "czy chcemy…?".
Examples
- Może pójdziemy w sobotę do kina?
- Shall we go to the cinema on Saturday?
- Zacznijmy lepiej jutro.
- Let's start tomorrow instead.
- Co powiesz na kawę po pracy?
- What do you say to a coffee after work?
The mistake to avoid
The -my imperative is built on the perfective verb for a one-off suggestion: zróbmy to dzisiaj, not róbmy to dzisiaj, which would mean "let's be doing it".
