Polish has two verbs for going on foot. Iść is one specific trip happening now or once; chodzić is going repeatedly or in general. The same split runs through jechać and jeździć for travelling by vehicle.
Examples
- Teraz idę do domu.
- I am going home now.
- Codziennie chodzę do pracy pieszo.
- Every day I walk to work.
- W soboty jeżdżę do rodziców.
- On Saturdays I go to my parents'.
The mistake to avoid
Codziennie idę is wrong for a habit - that one needs chodzę.
