Some very common verbs build an irregular past stem before the gender endings: iść gives szedł and szła, móc gives mógł and mogła, jeść gives jadł and jadła. For ago, Polish puts the time first and temu after it: dwa dni temu.
Examples
- Wczoraj byłem w Krakowie.
- Yesterday I was in Krakow.
- Dwa dni temu zadzwoniłam do niej.
- Two days ago I called her.
- W zeszłym tygodniu szliśmy przez park.
- Last week we were walking through the park.
The mistake to avoid
Temu comes after the time: dwa dni temu, not "temu dwa dni".
