Polish describes weather with impersonal forms: pada deszcz, pada śnieg, jest słonecznie, jest zimno. For a real possibility, jeśli takes the present tense on both sides, or the perfective future when the plan is a single completed event.
Examples
- Pada deszcz od rana.
- It has been raining since morning.
- Jeśli jutro będzie padać, zostaniemy w domu.
- If it rains tomorrow, we will stay at home.
- Jest słonecznie, więc idziemy na spacer.
- It is sunny, so we are going for a walk.
The mistake to avoid
Jest zimno is about the weather; jest mi zimno is about you.
