Polish keeps nie on the verb and adds the negative word as well: nic nie rozumiem, nikt nie odpowiada, nigdy nie działa. Dropping the nie is a grammatical error. Remember too that a negated verb takes the genitive rather than the accusative.
Examples
- Nic nie zrozumiałem z jego wiadomości.
- I did not understand anything in his message.
- Nikt nie odbiera w obsłudze klienta.
- Nobody is answering at customer service.
- To nie działa od wczoraj.
- It has not been working since yesterday.
The mistake to avoid
Two or even three negatives are correct here, unlike in English.
Where this fits in
Telefon, wiadomości i drobne problemy, Polish A2: Dzwonić i pisać, przepraszać, wyjaśnić nieporozumienie i prosić o pomoc - codzienność, kiedy coś nie idzie zgodnie z planem.
