The Polish imperative drops the ending from the ty form: idziesz gives idź, skręcasz gives skręć. For politeness with a stranger, use proszę plus the infinitive, or the third-person form with pan and pani: proszę iść prosto.
Examples
- Proszę iść prosto, a potem skręcić w prawo.
- Please go straight on, and then turn right.
- Idź prosto do końca ulicy.
- Go straight to the end of the street.
- Przepraszam, gdzie jest dworzec?
- Excuse me, where is the station?
The mistake to avoid
Proszę plus the infinitive is the safe polite form with anyone you address as pan or pani.
