For something happening right now, Irish uses tá plus the subject plus ag plus the verbal noun: tá mé ag glanadh. The verbal noun is the dictionary form of the action, and when it takes an object that object goes into the genitive.
Examples
- Tá mé ag glanadh na cistine.
- I am cleaning the kitchen.
- Tá sé ag ní na soithí.
- He is washing the dishes.
- Táimid ag glanadh an tí.
- We are cleaning the house.
The mistake to avoid
The ag is required: tá mé ag glanadh, never "tá mé glanadh".
