For things you do regularly, use the present tense: the verb comes first in the sentence, before the subject. The "I" form has its own ending -(a)im and needs no pronoun; every other person uses the ending -(e)ann plus a pronoun. The negative is "ní", which softens the first letter.
Examples
- Éirím ar a seacht gach maidin.
- I get up at seven every morning.
- Ólann sé caife tar éis an dinnéir.
- He drinks coffee after dinner.
- Ní itheann sí feoil.
- She does not eat meat.
The mistake to avoid
Saying "Ólaim mé" — the -im ending already means "I", so adding "mé" is doubling up.
