The other two verb families work like -ar with different vowels. -er verbs take -o, -es, -e, -emos, -éis, -en; -ir verbs are identical except in the we and you-plural forms, which are -imos and -ís. So comer and vivir differ only in two places.
Examples
- Como pescado casi todos los días.
- I eat fish nearly every day.
- ¿Bebes vino o agua?
- Do you drink wine or water?
- Vivimos cerca del restaurante.
- We live near the restaurant.
The mistake to avoid
Only the we/you-plural forms tell -er and -ir apart: comemos but vivimos.
