Spanish verbs change ending depending on who does them. The verb 'ser' (to be) is soy (I am), eres (you are), es (he/she/it is) - use it to give your name, your nationality and where you are from.
Examples
- Soy Ana.
- I'm Ana.
- ¿De dónde eres?
- Where are you from?
- Ella es de México.
- She's from Mexico.
The mistake to avoid
Origin always uses ser, never estar: say "Soy de España", not "Estoy de España".
Where this fits in
Greetings & introductions, Spanish A1: Say hello, give your name, ask someone else's, and where they're from.
