After a wish, request or doubt followed by que - quero que, espero que, é possível que - and after talvez, the next verb goes into the present subjunctive. Build it from the eu present form: drop the -o and add -e endings to -ar verbs (falo becomes fale) and -a endings to -er/-ir verbs (como becomes coma).
Examples
- Espero que tenhas um bom fim de semana.
- I hope you have a good weekend.
- Quero que venhas comigo ao Porto.
- I want you to come with me to Porto.
- Talvez mude de emprego no próximo ano.
- Maybe I'll change jobs next year.
The mistake to avoid
Saying "Espero que tens tempo" - after espero que the verb must be subjunctive: tenhas.
