Norwegian fixes the conjugated verb in position two of a main clause. Open with a time word or a place and the subject moves behind the verb: i morgen drar jeg. In a question with hvor, hvordan or når, the question word takes first place and the verb still follows.
Examples
- Hvor er stasjonen?
- Where is the station?
- Hvordan kommer jeg meg til sentrum?
- How do I get to the centre?
- I morgen drar jeg til Oslo.
- Tomorrow I am going to Oslo.
The mistake to avoid
Do not keep the English order: i morgen jeg drar is wrong.
