Some verbs need a small pronoun after them pointing back at the subject: meg (I), deg (you), seg (he/she/they), oss (we), dere (you plural). The pronoun goes right after the verb, and 'seg' is the dictionary form you see in 'legge seg', 'sminke seg'.
Examples
- Jeg legger meg klokka elleve.
- I go to bed at eleven.
- Hun sminker seg hver dag.
- She puts on makeup every day.
- Vi kler på oss fort om morgenen.
- We get dressed quickly in the morning.
The mistake to avoid
Using 'seg' for every subject - 'jeg legger seg' is wrong; with 'jeg' it must be 'meg'.
