에서 marks where an action HAPPENS, and also where you came from: 한국에서 왔어요. 에 marks a destination or a static location: 집에 가요. Both attach directly to the place word with no space.

The mistake to avoid
에 is where you go, 에서 is where you do something - 학교에 가요 but 학교에서 공부해요.
